About Onefoottaller

Onefoottaller has always strived to match good design with a clear conscience.
Loving elegance, needing fair production and getting excited by things which work is the combination that motivates Katty Barac from Onefoottaller.
Exhibitions institutions and publications have offered commentary and praise for Onefoottaller designs over the years which is gratefully appreciated. Winning the Peugeot Design Awards and being given Millennium Product status for the Chasm Chair are the most memorable for Katty. Invitations to Buckingham Palace were hilarious to receive and we were very grateful for the appreciation they reflect... One Foot Taller's work also features in The International Design Yearbook and Conran Octopus Contemporary Furniture.
The business was founded by Katty Barac and Will White (who is one-foot-taller than Katty) after graduating with BA Hons degrees in Product Design from Glasgow School of Art in 1994. Will then went to Dyson working as head of Product Innovation before becoming a fine jeweller and making Katty's wedding rings! Starting out producing furniture as well as lighting, Katty has now focused solely on the design and production of timeless lighting for home and commercial settings.
Onefoottaller was established in Glasgow, Scotland. Katty moved to France in 2007 and now designs from her studio and workshops there, where she lives with her husband Quinny and their two children Ella and Dylan. This environment is great for seeing birds and sheep out of the studio window. It's also why you might receive products from a small producer in UK, or from a rather smaller studio in France.
