One Foot Taller at Timorous Beasties Shed April 7, 2017 15:30

Glasgow. Timorous Beasties and One Foot Taller met in 1995 in Glasgow.  We've been friends and collaborated on various projects over the years. I planned a March trip to Glasgow in order to do some work with the Glasgow School of Art, meet with designers clients and manufacturers in Scotland. So... we decided to get some of my work up with theirs in the new Timorous Beasties Shed, - a beautiful and industrial showroom, big enough to celebrate the scale of their work. We chatted as they got the space together so it was fantastic to see in full glory at the end of my week there.
On a rainy Friday evening in March, many friendly folk wandered in to see that beautiful TB wall-coverings and upholstered furniture were shown on a grand scale, illuminated by One Foot Taller clusters of lamps and suspensions. A great night in the Shed and a lovely way to see the pieces complimenting each other. Sometimes intricate, sometimes bold and always impressively interesting, the surface patterns on show from Timorous Beasties provide a beautiful and rich environment for calm and elegant lighting to float within. It’s a joy, after all this time, to see our products working together as well as ever.

Black is the new black August 1, 2015 08:55

Just minding my own business, hanging black lamps in a tree, in the middle of a storm...

Black because they're 100% recycled (that's the only colour easily achieved, Henry Ford would have approved). Good outdoors since the flotsam and jetsam out here is kinder to a black surface than to whitey-white ones, and you get cheeky, moody light, perfect for wild evenings outdoors.

They'll end up being listed in the boutique soon enough, once I've taken more pics...but for now they're on exhibition at Markus Bausch's Association Béchamel, come rain or shine...
